Boys’ Bedroom Solutions

Standard

I’ve been searching for ways to make the boys’ rooms more efficient and easy to keep clean.  I think I’m slowly making progress towards my ideal room for each of them.

Kailer is 9.  He enjoys playing video games (especially MineCraft), Lego and Cryptozoology.  The boy is a mad scientist in the making.  His ideal room would have a Lego table, labeled storage and a cat tree for his “Alley” cat.  He was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago, so now I realize why his room is a chaotic mess ALL the time – hence my need for him to have labeled storage 🙂  So I really need to be creative when it comes to designing his room.  Here’s what I’ve got so far:

  • built-in bed in the closet, with storage under
  • Lego table, storage bins with lids underneath
  • a dresser with labeled drawers: pants, T-shirts, undies, etc.
  • a personalized cat tree for Alley
  • a cork board to hang all of his MineCraft art
  • curtains instead of his blinds

I’m going to try really hard to keep my budget for this about $150 or less

Kaleb is 3.  He enjoys looking at books, super heroes and pretending.  I won’t have to do a lot in his room.  He already has a loft bed, which I plan to double as a fort.  He needs a new dresser, as he prefers to pick out his own clothes.  I want to use a lot of primary colors in this room, but not on the walls, as we’re planning to sell in 2-3 years.  So, here’s my to-do list in here.

  • curtain rod and material to make the fort
  • reusable wall stickers to add color
  • glow in the dark stars for the ceiling
  • a new dresser that’s easier for him to open
  • material to make a sack for all his stuffies
  • toy storage solutions

My budget for this room is $50 or less.
