Category Archives: Planning For The Future

Happy Valentine’s Day to me – Mike told me a few hours ago that when we move, I’ll be getting a craft room!!!  I’m so excited!!!  I have so many projects that I want to do with and for the kids, but I don’t want the craft supplies in an area where they can be messed up or destroyed by little hands, so this is going to be a dream-come-true, and I didn’t even know it existed until my Mike told me about it and suggest it be my craft room 😀  It’s a 12’x6′ insulated room just off of the house and garage.  I have so many projects that I want to get done:

  • tutus
  • baby skirts
  • barefoot sandles
  • infant headbands
  • onesie dresses
  • wall art
  • aprons

The kids are gonna be so excited to be able to have a space to be creative with Mommy 🙂

Family Vacation 2015

Standard

I know it’s a ways away yet, but I’ve begun to plan our 2015 summer vacation to Niagara Falls Ontario.  Here’s the plan for each day:

  1. Friday – drive to the Super 8 Motel in Saint Cloud for the night
  2. Saturday – Drive to the Nicollet Mall to pose with the Mary Tyler Moore statue, go to the Minniapolis Sculpture Garden, and then end the day in Wisconsin Dells.
  3. Sunday – spend the day in Wisconsin Dells
  4. Monday – visit Wrigley Field, spend the day at the Lincion Park Zoo, stop to see the Buckingham Fountain, and then heading to a motel for the night.
  5. Tuesday – drive the seven hours to Niagara Falls and spend the night at the Travelodge.
  6. Wednesday – spend the day in Niagara Falls admiring the falls, looking out from the top of the Skylon Tower, checking out the Guiness World Records Mudeum, going for a hike behind the falls, spending time at Marineland, Riding the Lakeside Park Carousel, and exploring the Upside Down House.

It’s not an exotic vacation, but it’ll be lots of fun!  I’m not sure which route Mike prefers to take home, so that part of the plan will have to wait for now.

This is what I’m hoping we’ll stick to spending on our trip:

  • $1000 for lodging
  • $100 for food
  • ? for gas

Family Summer Events Calendar

Standard

With summer on our doorstep, I’m spending the morning planning our family summer events calendar.  I enjoy busy weekends with my boys, because my week days are pretty much the same day after day 🙂  Manitoba hosts many amazing fairs and festivals that we enjoy participating in.  As fun as these events are, they’re also great opportunities to teach the kids about history other cultures, and to try new things.  Besides fairs and festivals, there are just so many things to do for families.  For example, here are some picture from our more recent adventures 🙂

Themeing Kayden’s Future Room

Standard

Since Kayden will be moving into his very own big boy room soon, I’ve been thinking about how to decorate his room.  I enjoy themes, but Kayden has so many interests, that I haven’t been able to decide on just one theme.  Then it hit me… Planes, Trains and Automobiles!  He loves everything that has to do with transportation, but especially these three.  To make it fun, I’m going to decorate with characters from the movies Cars, Planes and Thomas!!! 😀  Whatcha think?

KITTENS!!!

Standard

PicMonkey Collage-1 weekOur Alley cat had these little sweeties last week Tuesday.  They’re a week old today and cute little balls of fur!  Unfortunately, we aren’t able to keep them, so I am tasked with finding homes for each of them.  A friend of mine has already expressed interest in one, which makes me happy, because I know that little guy will have an amazing home.  She may also take Mocha, my male Siamese kitten, but that is yet to be decided.  I’m finding it difficult to sex them, so Kailer’s been helping me.  As far as we can tell, the two on the left are males, the two top right ones are female, and the little orange and white one is a male.  I suspect that the little black one may be a female, but we check weekly, so we’ll see… 🙂

Re-homing Our Fur Babies

Standard

IMG_5556 IMG_5562-1        With baby on the way, I can feel the pressure mounting to get my home in pristine condition.  I find myself dealing with a lot of things that I’ve been let sliding – the amount of clothing we have, unhung photo frames, space, and pets.  I love our two cats Mocha and Alley, but I realize that they are adding to the chaos.  Just the fact that they use the litter box and then walk all around the house with dirty feet is bad enough for me.  So, I’ve struggled with, and finally made the tough division to re-home our cats.  I’ll start with Mocha (our Siamese), as Alley is pregnant, and I want to wait until the kittens are weened to re-home her.  Kailer is super attached to Alley, and I know that separation will be incredibly hard on him.  For that reason, I’ll be working on finding a home for her with friends or family, so that he can visit her.
